Take a 5X5

My hope is that you’ve been able navigate this surreal global health crisis as gracefully as possible.  I know we are not exactly in the same boats but definitely swirling in the same storm. This season has brought me moments of overwhelming sadness with separation, devastating grief as well as it surprised me with joy in connecting in fascinating ways.
 
I discovered a practice called 5 by 5 inspired from medical research for brain health from UT Dallas. It is taking five minutes, five times a day to unplug to be energized and engage to stay focused during tasks.   I’ve noticed when I take a few minutes to step away from the frenzy it changes the frequency, my energy and ultimately is a great stress reliever.

I love to go outside a couple times a day, just breathe in breathe out, walk around my backyard, and refocus. Sometimes I discover something new like a beautiful iris bloom or hear the bird flittering around. I encourage you to develop simple everyday self-care practices especially to navigate these and other challenging time with purpose and intention.
